Scrappers' Treat

What a great weekend! I didn't get a lot of scrappin' accomplished, but it was great to "get away" (15 minutes down the road) for the weekend. What a wonderful group of women - we shared a lot of laughs.
How many sleeps till the next big crop??

Smiling Faces

On Sunday evening of the NB Day long weekend, Trevor and Lori invited us over for a bonfire. Aaron, Andrea and their two children were there as well. The four kids were having a great time on the play structure and roasting marshmallows.

Here is a three-part picture ... luckily no one was injured!

Kayla in the lead ...
...Amelia and Aidan next ... Jakob bringing up the tail end.

RHS Reunion Weekend

Wow! Attending my 20th high school reunion put me in a nostalgic mood. It was great to see some friends I hadn't chatted with in a long time. Friday night we were at the high school for a tour and then off to Dooly's for a 'meet & greet' - we had a great turn-out. Dooly's was packed, loud and dark so I didn't take any pictures there. Dad took a nice picture of Mary, Jane & I before he drove us to Dooly's.

Saturday night we held a dance at the Lion's Centre - I took lots of pictures that evening.

I posted all my pics online.

It's occasions like a high school reunion that make my mind go into 'flashback mode' - remembering all the fun times I shared with my friends. It was wonderful to reconnect with Mary - she's as sweet as ever.

We were very fortunate to grow up in Rview and attend an awesome high school. Go Royals!

My Birthday Weekend

Trevor, Lori, Kayla & Jakob arrived on Friday for a sleepover. We had chocolate birthday cake (with only three candles bc I'm still in my 30's ... can't put 38 candles on a cake without the risk of setting off the smoke alarm).

We tried to have a bonfire after supper but as soon as we got the fire going, it started to rain. And it then it POURED. So, the kids opted to play POKER. Yes, I'm a great influence - I have taught my five-year-old niece and three-year-old nephew to play a slightly modified version of Texas Hold'em.

I think Jakob needs to work on his 'Poker Face' ...

On Saturday we went to the market, where Kayla & Jakob had their faces painted.

After lunch, my parents and Chance arrived for a visit. Chance has grown a lot in the past month. We had him on Poncho's long rope - while we weren't paying attention to him, he dug a hole in my garden. White puppy + black earth = big mess. A cute mess though.

Can you say FLASHBACK!?

I'm scanning photos for the PPP for our high school reunion. Ohmy. Looking at the pics, I can't believe it's been 20 (sometimes 20+) years since these events took place ...

French Camp at Boie Joli - Summer 1984

I remember doing the dishes ... we were caught talking English!

Jenn & I were roomies for the week.

Here are two pics taken at my parents' house ... and obviously they were not at home (so nobody tell them we had beer, okay?)

My Prom Date, Danny, and I ... I look so sweet & innocent!

Camping at "The Ovens"

Last week we were on VACATION! We stayed at home for part of the week to run errands, do house stuff, etc. On Wednesday, we drove to Riverport Nova Scotia (Lunenburg Co.) to camp at “The Ovens” for three nights (http://www.ovenspark.com/). Back in 1980 my family camped there - I don't remember much about the campground itself, but I remember walking the trail and exploring the caves. I love the sound of the ocean waves crashing on the beach.

On Wednesday, we arrived in the late afternoon. After setting up camp, we drove into Lunenburg for a few necessities (i.e., soda pops). We *attempted* to make a fire that night - we needed Dan there to get the fire going! On Thursday, it rained. And rained. And rained. We vegged and read. And vegged. And read. Finally, around mid afternoon, we were able to leave the tent without floating away and we went for a walk - Poncho was filthy within minutes. But we were happy to be outside.

On Friday the weather was fabulous – it was so nice to see the SUN. We explored the UNESCO Heritage section of Lunenburg, took a drive to Mahone Bay, Glen went for a swim in the pool, we walked the Oven Trail and explored the sea caves and then we had a BIG fire.

All in all, it was a productive and relaxing week off work.
